Earlier in the week, the LA Times reported that MoveOn.org, the infamous left-wing thugs who sponsored the “General Betray Us” ads, had unleashed its lawyers on Internet retailer Cafe Press, which allows folks to sell custom-designed t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc. The anti-military smear merchants don’t take kindly to be being mocked and satirized on homemade items and knick-knacks:
Google maps hits the streets with their new "Street View" feature that already has some up in arms, ranting about the privacy issue. Is Google invading your privacy with it's new street view maps? Some say yes!
Google never ceases to amaze. When the ubiquitous search engine company launched Google maps a couple of years ago users played with the map's satellite feature and tweaked the platform to make everything from beer-finding maps to apartment hunters.
This week Google released Street View, which lets users 'drive through' American cities such as San Francisco and New York. This time though, the response from the internet community wasn't as overwhelmingly positive.
One Oakland, Ca. woman claims that Google and their car-mounted camera invaded her privacy.
Interviewed in the New York Times she said:
“The issue that I have ultimately is about where you draw the line between taking public photos and zooming in on people’s lives,”
“The next step might be seeing books on my shelf. If the government was doing this, people would be outraged.”
She might have a point. Wired magazine is currently running a contest that lets readers submit their favourite Google Street View images. Some of them are fairly banal but a few could raise the hackles of privacy advocates or lead to inadvertent consequences (e.g. workers caught doing something prohibited on a lunch break, a philanderer caught in a tryst, kids skipping school, etc.)
Google insists that it's doing everything it can to protect people's privacy and users can report 'inappropriate' images found on Street View but judging from the comments on this post on the popular blog Boing Boing, that may not be enough.
On a personal note I'd like to share with you an enlightenment my mother went through just the other day. It all started when my mother was passing by my younger sister's bedroom. She stopped, and was astonished to see that the bed was nicely made and everything was picked up neat and clean. Believe me, this is not like my sister.
It was then that she noticed an envelope propped up prominently on the center of the bed. It was addressed, Mom.
With the worst premonition, she opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands.
Dear Mom:
It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new boyfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Dad and you.
I've been finding real passion with John and he is so nice, even with all his piercings, tattoos, beard, and his motorcycle clothes. But it's not only passion Mom, I'm pregnant and John said that we will be very happy together.
He already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. He wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams too.
John taught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and we'll be growing it for us and trading it with our friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.
In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so John can get better; he sure deserves it!

Like many other bloggers of late, it has come to our attention that the stat counter service we were using - SiteMeter - has started installing rogue tracking cookies on our visitor's computers. This type of cookie is more commonly known as spyware.
Needless to say, I find this appalling and have stopped using their counter code effective this morning. Sitemeter has been eliminated from FreedomforSome.com forever.
SiteMeter has admittedly allowed at least one spyware cookie to be installed from specificclick.com, who's parent company is Specific Media and are well known in the internet community to secretly gather and pass on to other companies, marketing information about your travels through the internet.
There is no need to be concerned because the cookie IS NOT a virus, it cannot hurt your computer, and there is no threat to your computer's well being. However, the cookie does allow third-party companies to track your every move online.
I would suggest removing all cookies from sitemeter and specificclick.com from your browser cookie folder/directory.
I hope and pray this year will bring peace and prosperity to all and not terrorism in the name of the "Religion of Peace." We must all do our part to stop CAIR and it's bullshit organizations that promote and support terrorism from inside the U.S..

While taking full credit for the election of Democrats to U.S. Congress this past November, al-Qaeda's deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahri, in a video broadcast on Al-Jazeera TV, told the United States Democrats that they should be negotiating with them about the U.S. situation in Iraq if the U.S. wants to be successful.
Al Qaeda has sent a message to leaders of the Democratic party that credit for the defeat of congressional Republicans belongs to the terrorists.
In a portion of the tape from al Qaeda No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri, made available only today, Zawahri says he has two messages for American Democrats.
"The first is that you aren't the ones who won the midterm elections, nor are the Republicans the ones who lost. Rather, the Mujahideen -- the Muslim Ummah's vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq -- are the ones who won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones who lost," Zawahri said, according to a full transcript obtained by ABC News.
Zawahri calls on the Democrats to negotiate with him and Osama bin Laden, not others in the Islamic world who Zawahri says cannot help.
"And if you don't refrain from the foolish American policy of backing Israel, occupying the lands of Islam and stealing the treasures of the Muslims, then await the same fate," he said.
The fact that al-Qaeda is watching and working the U.S. political system should not come as a surprise to anyone in the U.S.. They know they are in a much better situation with the Democrats in power and will, in my opinion try to strike us at home again.
It's all about timing. I can see them waiting till we withdraw our forces from the middle east, knowing the Democrats would never attempt to re-deploy troops to strike them back anywhere in the world.
It's a good plan if you ask me. Hell, we got hit six times during the last administration, and all we did to retaliate was to blow up an aspirin factory in the desert and kill a camel with a 10 million dollar missile.

A ceramic bobblehead doll of the Prophet Muhammed - created to resemble the infamous caricature published by a Danish newspaper - is being hawked online for $22.99 a pop by an ex-Marine.
The unapologetic creator, Timothy Ames, 28, said the bobblehead is similar to "dashboard Jesus" figurines that can be stuck with adhesive to flat surfaces. "I thought, 'If they flipped out over some cartoons what will they do with a dashboard Muhammed?'" Ames said from his home in Hawaii.
But Islamic experts are not amused, saying the bobbleheads could anger Muslims, whose religion strictly prohibits depictions of the prophet.
"No depiction of the prophet, even if it is positive, should be made ever - and certainly not one as ridiculous as the bobblehead Muhammed," said Zvi Ben-Dor Benite, an assistant professor at New York University. "I don't think it's about freedom of speech. This is the freedom to insult, which he shouldn't be doing."
Ames said several hundred people have purchased the dolls online, and he has paid a Chinese manufacturer to create 1,000 more. "I just think it's funny," he said.
Charles Austin McCrann was 55 years old and lived in New York City with his wife Michelle and two children Derek and Maxine. His life tragically ended on September 11, 2001, in the World Trade Center building.
Charles McCrann died living his life with the freedom we all so cherish.
Charles was a Princeton University and Yale Law School grad, was senior vice-president of the Marsh & McLennan Companies financial-services conglomerate, who worked at the firm's World Trade Center offices. Despite his executive exterior, he was a film buff who made his own horror movie which was released theatrically as Bloodeaters (1980) and which, as 'Toxic Zombies', was televised twice according to a New York Times capsule bio following his tragic disappearance in the WTC collapse.

A Past in the Movies.
Charles Austin McCrann was a levelheaded, respected executive, devoted to his wife, Michelle, and children, Derek and Maxine. But beneath his responsible exterior beat an auteur's heart. He loved film, whether the comedies of W. C. Fields or horror movies.
And so it was that Charlie, a graduate of Princeton University and Yale Law School, was also the writer, producer, director and star of "Toxic Zombies," a comic horror film that was shown twice on the USA cable network. The movie was made while Mr. McCrann was on hiatus in the late 1970's; its plot turned on a group of hippies who turn into those toxic zombies after a drunken crop-duster oversprays their marijuana field.
"Toxic Zombies" epitomized a sense of humor that even now makes Mrs. McCrann laugh out loud. Charlie McCrann would surprise someone taken in by his straight appearance with a funny duck walk as he left the room. He would tease her relentlessly, so that after an angry derelict spit on her once, he said, "You mean your Uncle Spitty did that to you

Charlie prepped at Lawrenceville School.
At Princeton, he majored in history, was an active member of Tower Club, Orange Key, Whig-Clio, and the Young Republicans, and roomed with Rick Ferris, Rich Huberman, and Steve Whelan.
After Yale Law School, Charlie joined the NYC law firm of LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & McCrae, specializing in insurance, corporate, and regulatory matters. He then became special counsel to the New York State Assembly Insurance Committee. In 1980, Charlie joined insurance conglomerate Marsh & McLennan, rising to senior vice president.
Colleagues noted how Charlie not only provided instant, documented answers to complex issues involving taxes or solvency regulations, but also was gifted in dealing with government officials.
Always possessed of a whimsical streak, Charlie would have said that the high point of his career was producing, directing, and (as Charles Austin) starring in the 1980 horror film Toxic Zombies. In truth, he was devoted to his wife of 22 years, Michelle, and their children, Derek and Maxine. To them and his many friends, the class extends its deepest sympathy.

Charlie was my uncle, lunch buddy, and one of the kinder people I've known. Over two years ago, he called me on my first day at work to see how I was faring. I fear nothing could have prepared him for what he received on the other end of the phone, but I certainly appreciated his listening to all my new job jitters; silly as they were, he was such a needed comfort. Never one to overlook anything, I only wish I'd had more time. Uncle Charlie, I miss you very much and I think of you everyday. Love always

If you listen to all the BS coming from the MSM in the last couple of days, it sounds like the liberal left in America and the main stream media are grieving the loss of the great Al-Qaeda leader, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. They can't seem to come to grips with their loss.
Some are already throwing around and spreading military misconduct rumors like this AP story that cites an unidentified source claiming to see American soldiers ripping Zarqawi from an ambulance and beating him to death after finding him alive after the bombings.
The Iraqi, identified only as Mohammed, said residents put a bearded man in an ambulance before U.S. forces arrived. He said the man was found lying next to an irrigation canal.
"He was still alive. We put him in the ambulance, but when the Americans arrived they took him out of the ambulance, they beat him on his stomach and wrapped his head with his dishdasha, then they stomped on his stomach and his chest until he died and blood came out of his nose," Mohammed said, without saying how he knew the man was dead.
Yeah this sounds like a reliable source with a believable story to me.

(2006-06-09) — As Blackberry devices and cell phones on Capitol Hill hummed with news of the death of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi yesterday, Congressional Democrats vowed that despite the loss they would fight on in “the war on the war on terror.”
“Zarqawi will be missed because he put a human face on the futility of the illegal U.S. occupation of Iraq,” said one unnamed lawmaker, who assured a reporter that “Democrats are still optimistic. We’re still looking for the silver lining.”
Rep. John Murtha, D-PA, a former Marine and vocal critic of the military occupation of Iraq, immediately denounced “the Zarqawi massacre” and suggested that the F-16 pilot who dropped the bombs had snapped under pressure and murdered the al Qaeda leader “in cold blood.”
Sen. Arlen Specter, R-PA, demanded an explanation of the secret intelligence gathering techniques and surveillance used to find Mr. Zarqawi.
“I want to give the president an opportunity to explain the program to the Congress and to assure the American people that nobody’s civil rights were violated,” said Sen. Specter.
Meanwhile, Democrat National Committee Chairman Howard Dean and former presidential candidate Al Gore observed a moment of silence as they heard of the passing of Mr. Zarqawi, a fellow Internet pioneer.

Most of us here in the states, know CNN has trouble translating English to English as one of his readers commented.

Does the CNN have problems with translation from Arabic to English or is it a case of deliberate twisting of facts?
Yesterday Iraq's and Iran's foreign ministers had a joint press conference in Baghdad after which the CNN ran a headline that reads "Iraqi minister defends Iranian nuclear program" and wrote:
Iran has a right to develop nuclear technology and the international community should drop its demands that Tehran prove it's not trying to build a nuclear weapon, Iraq's foreign minister said Friday.

"Iran doesn't claim that they want to obtain a nuclear weapon or a nuclear bomb, so there is no need that we ask them for any guarantee now," Hoshyar Zebari said after meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Manouchehr Mottaki.
I wasn't there at the press conference but I was able to find an audio clip of the same part of minister Zibari's statement through Radio Sawa, and what he said here is so much different from what the CNN claimed he did (my translation):
We respect Iran's and every other nation's right to pursue nuclear technology for research purposes and peaceful use given they accept [giving] the internationally required guarantees that this will not lead to an armament race in the region…
Listening to the 2nd version of the story (in Zibari's own voice) it is clear that Iraq recognizes Iran's right to use nuclear power for peaceful purposes exclusively and is moreover asking Iran for guarantees, not the other way around CNN!
Does CNN have a translation problem or is this a deliberate attempt to deceive it's readers and viewers?
Our deep and sincere condolences to Mohammed and Omar at Iraq the Model. They lost a loved family member to terrorist in Iraq recently. Our hearts go out to them and their family.

Last week our little and peaceful family was struck by the tragic loss of one of its members in a savage criminal act of assassination. The member we lost was my sister's husband who lived with their two little children in our house.
He was a brilliant young doctor with a whole future awaiting him, the couple were the top graduates in their branch of specialty. They had to travel abroad to get their degrees and the war started while they were there but months after Saddam fallen they decided to come back to help rebuild the country and serve their people.
We welcomed them with all love and care, we would sit and talk everyday about our hopes and dreams for a better future for the new generation and for their two little children. We realized that time is needed before they could have a secure and prosperous life and we were satisfied with the little we could make because we believed in the future.
Grief and pain is killing me everyday as I hold my dear nephews, my sister is shocked beyond words while my parents are dead worried about the rest of us.
We are trying hard to close the wound, summon our patience and protect those still alive while we look forward to the future that we hope can bring peace for us.
