In a not-so-friendly start of talks between the United States and Russia, in the presents of the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to abandon a key nuclear missile treaty while demanding the U.S. back off it's plans to deploy an anti-missile defense system in eastern Europe.

If the U.S. does not, it risks relations with Moscow, Putin said.

Secretary Rice told reporters on Thursday on her flight to Moscow that the United States would go ahead with the missile defense program as planned.

Putin warns U.S. in missile talks

Addressing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates, the Russian president appeared to mock the U.S. missile defense plan, which is at the center of a tangle of arms control and diplomatic disputes between the former Cold War adversaries.

"Of course we can sometime in the future decide that some anti-missile defense system should be established somewhere on the moon," Putin said, according to an English translation.

"But before we reach such arrangements we will lose the opportunity for fixing some particular arrangements between us."

Putin also said Russia might feel compelled to pull out of a 20-year-old arms control deal unless it is expanded.

The Russian government sees the U.S. missile defense plan, which Washington describes as a hedge against the threat of missile attack from Iran, as a worrisome step toward weakening Russian security. It has been a longstanding dispute, and Putin's remarks seemed to raise the level of tensions.

Rice and Gates appeared taken aback at the firm tone and forcefulness of Putin's remarks, which were made from notes in the presence of American and Russian news media before they began a closed-door meeting around an oval table in an ornate conference room at his country house outside the capital.

"We will try to find ways to cooperate," Rice said in response. "Even though we have our differences, we have a great deal in common because that which unites us in trying to deal with the threats of terrorism, of proliferation, are much greater than the issues that divide us."

After Putin addressed further comments about U.S.-Russian military cooperation to Gates, the American defense secretary responded by saying the Pentagon was ready to intensify a dialogue on military relations.

"We have an ambitious agenda of security issues that concern both of us, including, as you suggest, development of missile systems by others in the neighborhood -- I would say in particular, Iran," Gates said.

Gates did not directly comment on the missile defense dispute.

After keeping Rice and Gates waiting for 40 minutes, Putin began the session with a lengthy monologue in which he also said that Russia may feel compelled to abandon its obligations under a 1987 missile treaty with the United States if it is not expanded to constrain other missile-armed countries.

Referring to the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces treaty that was negotiated with the United States before the breakup of the Soviet Union, Putin said it must be applied to other countries, including those "located in our near vicinity." He did not mention any by name, but in response, Gates said Washington was interested in limiting missile proliferation in Iran.

Putin said the treaty must be made "universal in nature."

The Russian President appears to be more comfortable playing the adversary role, while flexing his new found "Oil Muscles," than work with the U.S. on these very serious issues.

Some are even believed to have attended terror training camps in Pakistan or Afghanistan.

The dossier was drawn up with the help of MI5 amid fears that individuals linked to Islamic extremism are taking advantage of police attempts to increase the proportion of ethnic staff.

We can also reveal that one suspected jihadist officer working in the South East has been allowed to keep his job despite being caught circulating Internet images of beheadings and roadside bombings in Iraq.

He is said to have argued that he was trying to "enhance" debate about the war.

Classified intelligence reports raising concerns about police staff's background cannot be used to justify their dismissal, sources said.

Instead, the staff who are under suspicion are unofficially barred from working in sensitive posts and are closely monitored. Political correctness is blamed for the decision not to sack them.

It is widely feared that "long-term" Al Qaeda sleepers are trying to infiltrate other public sector organisations in the UK.

In November last year, it was revealed that a leading member of an extremist Islamic group was working as a senior official at the Home Office.

MI5 has warned in the past that suspects with "strong links" to Osama Bin Laden's killers have tried to join the British security services and, in January, exiled radical Omar Bakri claimed that Islamic extremists were infiltrating the police and other public sector organisations.

Suspicions are growing that the gang behind the failed London bomb attacks could have received inside information about rescue procedures in the aftermath of an atrocity in the capital.

The Daily Mail can reveal that the second device parked near Haymarket was left at a designated "evacuation assembly point" where civilians and the emergency services would have gathered had the first bomb gone off.

Investigators are trying to establish whether the bombers knew the significance of the location.

Sources said it is unlikely that the Met is the only force which may have been infiltrated by Al Qaeda sympathisers.

Oil prices fell. The stock market rose. Video images of smiling British soldiers with Iranian President Ahmadinejad were everywhere. So were pictures of the 15 freed hostages embracing family members back home. The relief over the return of the Brits was so tremendous; you could almost hear birds singing.

Maybe it's because military action won't be needed or maybe it's just because the ordeal won't drag on and on, but the world is breathing easier now. A lot of folks are happy. The problem, as I see it, is that Ahmadinejad seems to be the happiest.

And why shouldn't he be? He has shown the world that his forces can kidnap British citizens, subject them to brutal psychological tactics to coerce phony confessions, finagle the release of a high-ranking Iranian terror coordinator in Iraq, utterly trash the Geneva conventions and suffer absolutely no consequences.

The UN Security Council summoned its vaunted multilateral greatness to issue a swift statement of sincere uneasiness. The EU, which has pressured Britain to rely on Europeans for mutual defense instead of the US, wouldn't even discuss economic sanctions that might disrupt their holidays. Even NATO was AWOL.

British police thwart aircraft bomb plot

LONDON - British authorities said Thursday they had thwarted a terrorist plot to simultaneously blow up several aircraft to the U.S. using explosives smuggled in hand luggage, averting what police described as "mass murder on an unimaginable scale."

Officials raised security to its highest level in Britain — suggesting a terrorist attack might be imminent — and banned hand-carried luggage on all trans-Atlantic flights. Huge crowds formed at security barriers at London's Heathrow airport as officials searching for explosives barred nearly every form of liquid outside of baby formula.

The extreme measures at one of the major international aviation hubs sent ripple effects throughout the world. Heathrow airport was closed to most flights from Europe.

Update: Scotland Yard: Plot to commit mass murder, nets 24 terrorist.

Peter Clarke, head of Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist branch, said the network involved was "large and global".

While US Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said the plot was "in some respects suggestive of al-Qaeda".

With the ever growing threat to the U.S. and it's allies worldwide the U.S. is planning to build missile defense sites in Europe. These additional missile interceptor and radar bases would help defend Europe as well as the U.S. from rouge states and terrorist which may obtain a long range missile.

According to a Radio Prague report, Czech officials believe the United States plans to ask their country to host elements of a new U.S. missile defense system.

U.S. Team Finishes Survey of Potential Czech Republic Missile Defense Interceptor Sites

A 22-person team of U.S. military experts yesterday finished their survey of three sites in the Czech Republic that could house U.S. missile interceptors, the Xinhua News Agency reported July 13.

The experts confirmed that the three military locations were appropriate for such sites, Czech Defense Ministry spokesman Jan Pejsek said in a statement.

Several European nations have reportedly been considered as the site for the first U.S. strategic missile defense site outside U.S. territory.

The base would be intended to defend Europe against long-range missiles, particularly from launches from the Middle East, analysts say.

Polish President Lech Kaczynski, whose country is also believed to be under consideration, yesterday expressed reservations about the plan.

“I would not like to decide unambiguously here, at this moment. I approach the issue of extra-territoriality with reserve, I do not hide that. … We will see how the issue develops,” Kaczynski said, according to the Polish news agency PAP. “The missile defense shield is a problem that is to be the subject of deliberation by the National Security Council. It will be the subject of talks between the president, prime minister and government.”

The Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita, reported that Washington has offered several conditions for locating the base in Poland. The United States wants sole authority to decide when to fire the interceptors. Polish authorities would have no authority to inspect equipment at the site. U.S. personnel would be subject only to U.S. laws and courts even for crimes committed outside the base, the newspaper reported.

The terms of construction “are negotiable with the Americans,” said senior National Defense Ministry official Janusz Onyszkiewicz.

“Polish law must be in force on our territory, which can only be limited in situations where the interests of Poland or Poles are under threat. In this case, Polish jurisdiction must be maintained,” Onyszkiewicz said.

U.S. missile defense surveyors do not plan to visit Hungary as they look for interceptor sites, Xinhua reported today. Foreign Ministry spokesman Viktor Polgar said that U.S. experts are not expected to visit in August.

“The Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic believes that the likelihood that we will be asked by the U.S. government about the possibility of placement of the missile defense base on Czech territory is pretty high,” Richard Krpac, a spokesman for the Czech Foreign Ministry, said Sunday.

“According to our knowledge there are now only two countries being examined by the group of experts from the Pentagon: the Czech Republic and Poland,” Krpac said.

Iran cancelled nuclear talks today with the EU over a terrorist threat.

EU security chief Javier Solana said he was surprised to hear that Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani had decided at the last minute to postpone his trip to Brussels where they were suppose to hold talks with the European Union over the international proposal sent to Iran last month.

TEHRAN, July 5 (RIA Novosti) - Iran's top negotiator on the country's nuclear program said talks with the EU foreign policy supremo scheduled for Wednesday in Brussels had been postponed over a threat to the Iranian delegation from anti-Iran terrorist groups based in Europe.

Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki had said earlier that Ali Larijani and Javier Solana would not hold talks, but had not given a reason for the delay.

"Reports came from Brussels about the activity of certain groups in Europe, supported by the Zionist regime [Israel] and a number of European states. This provoked concern over the safety of members of the Iranian delegation, so Ali Larijani's trip was cancelled," Iranian news agencies quoted a well informed source as saying Wednesday.

But the source said that after the EU had guaranteed the security of the Iranian delegation, agreement had been reached to hold the meeting in Brussels on July 11.

This terrorism situation is really getting out of control.

Hundreds of children a year are being trafficked from all over the world to the UK to work in sweatshop, restaurants and local marijuana factories as slave labor. Some are placed in domestic servitude to work as slaves/domestic help, not to mention being sexually exploited by many who employ or enslave them.

Children as young as six are being brought to Britain in their hundreds every year to be used as "slave labour" in sweatshops, private homes and cannabis factories.

The children are transported from all over Africa, Asia and eastern Europe by ruthless and highly organised gangs of traffickers.

Many are taken with the unwitting consent of their parents, who pay up to £3,000, believing the traffickers' claims that their children are going to a better life - and will be able to send money home.

The victims are smuggled into Britain or brought in on false passports by adults posing as relatives. They are put to work immediately, live in appalling conditions and are subjected to physical and sexual abuse.

In the consultation document, passed to The Sunday Telegraph, the charities say there are "no specific support services" for victims of child trafficking and they accuse the Government of using "an unsympathetic and punitive asylum process" to treat them as illegal immigrants rather than victims.

Most trafficked children who come to the authorities' attention are deported immediately, they argue, and then face persecution and re-trafficking. The charities want the Government to introduce measures to help police, immigration officials and social workers to identify, rescue and protect them.

A Scotland Yard detective said: "It is hard to believe that there are child slaves in Britain in the 21st century but we are determined to end this appalling practice."

The New Fagins: Child Traffickers

Two years ago, when she was 10, Dochka lost what was left of her innocence when she was sold to a band of child traffickers by her mother and aunt in Bulgaria. Bewildered and terrified, the little girl was transported to Austria, forced to learn the skills of a pickpocket and put to work.

In some ways Dochka, a bright and appealing child, was luckier than many of the thousands of girls aged between four and 14 who are being traded by Europe's latter-day "Fagins" - a swathe of millionaire businessmen both more violent and richer than the crafty East Ender who taught youngsters to "pick a pocket or two" in Charles Dickens's Oliver Twist.

Dochka was "lucky" in that her lame leg saved her from being sold onto paedophiles - their clients would not be interested in her for sex - and fortunate that she was a good enough thief to meet the €350 (£240) daily target set by her financially-astute owners.

Britain has become a key territory for child traffickers who procure children from as far away as eastern Europe and Lithuania and sell them all over the UK.

While fear that a terrorist attack on a British target was imminent, more than 250 officers raided a house in eastern London on Friday, where one man was shot and two arrested under the Terrorism Act.

The raid on an east London house in which police shot a man yesterday was carried out because intelligence suggested that a viable chemical or biological weapon could be inside, according to counter-terrorism sources.

More than 250 officers swooped on the house in the early hours, after a two-month surveillance operation led by MI5. Security sources say the timing of the raid was dictated by fears that an attack on a British target using an unconventional weapon could be staged soon. The shot man and a man believed to be his brother were arrested under the Terrorism Act.

Anti-terrorism police in protective suits were combing the house in Forest Gate for evidence of chemical or biological material to establish whether the intelligence gathered by the security services was correct. The Health Protection Agency said the risk to the public from harmful substances was considered to be "very low".

Up to 11 people, all believed to have Bengali backgrounds, were inside the house when it was raided, and a 23-year-old man was shot by police during a scuffle on the stairs. He was hit in the shoulder by a single shot and police quickly announced his injuries were not life threatening, mindful of the damage to community relations that rumours could inflict. He is not believed to have had a gun.

London police are now on the hunt for a "chemical suicide vest" which they believe was about to be used on an attack in London.

A DESPERATE search is under way for a “chemical vest” that a British suicide bomber was ready to deploy in a terror attack on London.

Police fear that the strike, using a home-made chemical device, was imminent after an informant told MI5 that he had seen the lethal garment at the home of two young men.
Armed officers who led the assault on the terraced house in Forest Gate, East London, wore oxygen masks and protective chemical gear after a tip-off from MI5 that the device had already been assembled.

Security chiefs are deeply concerned that there was no sign of the vest inside what they believe is a chemical bomb factory.

No weapons were found either as officers searched the two adjoining properties that have been converted to accommodate a large Bangladeshi family.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke, head of Scotland Yard’s Anti-Terrorist Branch, said that the raid, codenamed Operation Volga, was ordered in response to “specific intelligence”.

He said that there had been no time to conduct further surveillance, which suggests that the police believed a terrorist was close to launching an attack. The fear is that if chemicals were to be used then a likely target could be a train compartment on the London Underground.

Another theory is that a suicide attacker, wearing the vest under a shirt, could trigger the device in a crowded venue, such as a pub full of people watching an England World Cup match.

It is understood that the main target in yesterday’s raid was the postal worker, who was hit in the shoulder by a single shot fired by a police marksman.

Officers believe World Cup fans could be target of attack.

Bomb attack on Blair morally justifiable

George Galloway has said the assassination of Tony Blair would be "morally justified" given his support for the war in Iraq.

The anti-war Respect MP said a suicide bomb attack on the Prime Minister would be "morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq as Blair did".

The controversial left-winger added that he was not calling for such an attack and that he would tip off the authorities if he knew of one.

But his remarks provoked a furious response, with Labour MP Stephen Pound calling him "disgraceful" and "twisted".

In an interview with GQ magazine, Mr Galloway was asked whether the assassination of Mr Blair by a suicide bomber would be justified, if there were no other casualties.

He replied: "Yes, it would be morally justified. I am not calling for it, but if it happened I believe it would be of a wholly different moral order to the events of 7/7.

"It would be entirely logical and explicable. And morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq as Blair did."

In his speech broadcast live on state television Wednesday, Ahmadinejad said "Iran won't accept any suspension or end to its uranium enrichment activities".

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday rejected a possible European offer for incentives, including a light-water nuclear reactor, in return for allaying fears about his country's nuclear program by giving up uranium enrichment.

"Do you think you are dealing with a 4-year-old child to whom you can give some walnuts and chocolates and get gold from him?" Ahmadinejad told thousands of people in a speech in central Iran.

European nations have weighed adding a light-water reactor to a package of incentives meant to persuade Tehran to permanently give up uranium enrichment — or face the threat of U.N. Security Council sanctions.

U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack declined to say Tuesday whether a light-water reactor would be offered in the package. But he insisted that Iran would be required to halt its program of enriching and reprocessing uranium on Iranian soil, saying the United States and others "do not want the Iranian regime to have the ability to master those critical pathways to a nuclear weapon."

We must search for the Gospel of Barnabas, of St. Barnabas, because this is the true gospel. This gospel explicitly mentions that Muhammad would come after Jesus.

If the American president comes to make a pilgrimage, they will say to him: You are impure, a polytheist. But he will reply: I am not a polytheist. Nor am I impure. How can you make such serious allegations against me? If I am impure, how come you shake my hand and break bread with me?

He will pull out the one dollar bill that we use, and he will say: Go ahead, read what's written on it.

Throughout Europe today, it is not uncommon to see women wearing headscarves and men with skull caps and beards. On many European streets, shops now sport signs in Arabic and other Near Eastern languages and sell an array of exotic looking products from the Middle East and other parts of the Islamic world. Indeed, in the space of a few decades, whole neighborhoods in cities like Birmingham, Rotterdam and Paris have been transformed. Streets that have witnessed hundreds of years of European history are now playing host to a decidedly non-Western people and culture.

This is the new Europe, one in which a rapidly growing Muslim population is making its presence felt in societies that until recently were largely homogeneous. Muslims are still very much minorities in Western and Central European countries, making up roughly 5 percent of the European Union's total population. But a number of demographic trends point to dramatic change in the years ahead.

Islam is already the fastest-growing religion in Europe. Driven by immigration and high birthrates, the number of Muslims on the continent has tripled in the last 30 years. Most demographers forecast a similar or even higher rate of growth in the coming decades.

European governments have grappled with this migration in various ways and with varying degrees of success. Some countries, such as France and Britain, have had relatively well-established policies toward immigrants for decades. And Britain, in particular, has had some success in integrating Muslim newcomers into the broader society. Other states, such as Germany, Spain and Italy, have, until recently, treated their Muslim communities as temporary phenomena – groups of "guest workers" or foreigners who would eventually return to their homelands.

But the growing size and importance of the Muslim population in most European countries is forcing the continent's governments – even those with established immigration policies – to focus more intently on trying to bring this community into the mainstream. Recent efforts have ranged from new laws aimed at hastening the pace of assimilation, such as the recent French headscarf ban, to proposals to assist in creating a more homegrown, European brand of Islam, as is happening in the Netherlands.

The successful integration of European Muslims is crucial to the future of Europe. Prognosticators may disagree on the community's ultimate demographic and social impact, but all believe that Muslims at the very least will be a significant and sizable minority that will play an important role in shaping the continent's future.

The prison at Guantanamo Bay was designed to interrogate terrorists and jihadists swept up from the battlefield: the idea was to keep them as prisoners of war in a war that was undeclared, and as enemy combatants without uniforms or officers. It had a no-win mandate, and will probably close soon due to international outcries about its supposed barbarity. Yet, for all the fury about its existence, not a single detainee has died there in over four years of operation.

In contrast, the European Milosevic just dropped dead while under custody of the U.N. at the postmodern tribunal at The Hague. This follows the recent suicide of Croatian Serb leader Milan Babic, likewise an inmate in a European detention center.

Few in Europe said much about the deaths of such high-profile prisoners, whose barbarity differed from that of many of the killers in Guantanamo mostly in order of magnitude. If American Rambos can keep alive Muslim jihadists, with their radically different customs, religion, languages, and diets, why cannot the more sensitive Europeans ensure that fellow Europeans don't drop dead in their jails?

We often hear about how incompetent the Iraqis, under American tutelage, have been in trying Saddam Hussein. After all, his trial is only in its initial stages, two years after he was captured. But compared to the more illustrious court of The Hague, Saddam's trial is racing along at a rapid clip. Before his sudden death, Milosevic had been in court for four years without a verdict. In terms of utopian international jurisprudence, the reprobate Milosevic died a free man, at his last breath still innocent until proven guilty.

The public wonders why the incompetent Americans can't catch Osama bin Laden, or at least Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
