Wednesday, May 31. 2006The Publishing of the Muhammad CartoonsHe says, "Muslims should be treated just like all Europeans." Flemming Rose The worldwide furor unleashed by the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammed that I published last September in Jyllands-Posten, the Danish newspaper where I work, was both a surprise and a tragedy, especially for those directly affected by it. Lives were lost, buildings were torched and people were driven into hiding.Read Full at Spiegel Online More @ Hot Air

American Proposal Called PropagandaAt a news conference, Rice said, "Iran must show it wants to negotiate 'in good faith' or face the consequences." "It's time to know whether Iran is serious about negotiation or not." Iran's official news agency said the offer was clearly a propaganda ploy by America, and that Iran has repeatedly said that the suspension of uranium enrichment is not on Iran's agenda and would not be considered as a precondition for talks about it's nuclear program. Associated Press "It's evident that the Islamic Republic of Iran only accepts proposals and conditions that meet the interests of the nation and the country. Halting enrichment definitely doesn't meet such interests," IRNA said at the end of a dispatch reporting the offer of talks by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The administration obviously knows this will not work, but they have to put it on the table so they can say "we tried."

Tuesday, May 30. 2006Iran Looks to Iraq as Key AllyTEHRAN, Iran, AP To Iran's west lies a natural ally and perhaps its most potent weapon in the international fray over its nuclear program. While Iran and Iraq were arch enemies during the rule of Saddam Hussein, all signs point to an increasingly robust relationship now that Shiites have achieved a dominant role in the Iraqi leadership. Now, did the U.S. see this coming? Are the Iraqi people going to turn on us in favor of their new found friends, the Iranians? Only time will tell as the Nuclear clock continues to tick away. Iranian Intelligence 'Present in Iraq' A high-ranking Iranian official has stressed that his country's influence is present in Iraq's current political situation in Iraq and that Iranian Intelligence have had a presence in Iraq since the era of deposed Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. The official, who was speaking during a lunch banquet with a group of journalists, said that Iran has friends in Iraq, including President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, and the parliament speaker; and has good relations with some political parties, including the Sunni forces. The Iranian official noted that Tehran decided to cancel the dialogue with Washington on the Iraqi affairs for many reasons, principal among which, as he said, is that "Iran does not want to justify the occupation and that the talks Washington wanted would sound as a justification for the occupation." I think the U.S. is going to find out the hard way that democracy as we know it will never work in Iraq due to religious influence in the government.

He questions CNN's ability to translate from Arabic to English. Most of us here in the states, know CNN has trouble translating English to English as one of his readers commented. Iraq the Model Does the CNN have problems with translation from Arabic to English or is it a case of deliberate twisting of facts? Does CNN have a translation problem or is this a deliberate attempt to deceive it's readers and viewers?

Jordan Sees Iran, Hamas and al-Qaeda As ThreatJordan, who has shown to be a good ally in the U.S. War on Terror, sees a very legitimate problem on the horizon as Israel plans to withdrawal from the West Bank area leaving yet another uncontrolled region for militants to take over and exploit. Jordan's Threat: Iran, Hamas & al-Qaeda Jordanian Parliament Speaker Abdel Hadi Majali warned that Iran is a threat to Jordanian security, regardless of whether US military strikes take place or not. Citing Iranian involvement in Iraq and their support for Hamas, Majali said, “Iran is threatening Jordan’s security and it is targeting the stability of the country and not ousting its regime. Iran poses a real threat on Jordan. Jordan will be harmed whether Iran was the target of a military operation or not.” I guess the moral of this story is: Be careful what you wish for... it could come true.

Thursday, May 25. 2006Immigration Debate Gone CrazySen. John McCain of Arizona says it's "un-American to be selective about whom we let into this country." What the hell does that mean? He's spending way too much time with Ted Kennedy. All I know is amnesty does not work. Let us all remember 1986 when we voted for amnesty thinking it would solve our immigration problems. Now, twenty years later, we have over 12 million illegal immigrants and the problem getting worse. Michelle Malkin calls it "The Most Important Debate Of The Year" An extraordinary exchange just took place on the Senate floor over the last 40 minutes. It's the most important debate of the year, in my opinion. Hot Air has the video. It's a must see. McCain compares guest-worker tax treatment to Jim Crow. Allahpundit with Hot Air has the Video.

Sunday, May 21. 2006Two Saudi Men Arrested On School Bus With StudentsOnce on the bus, the two men laughed and spoke in Arabic while the students around them became increasingly uneasy, as did the bus driver who called in to the school. Authorities were waiting for them as they arrived at school. Thanks to Jihad Watch. I think it's plausible that someone who doesn't know America very well might mistake a school bus for a public bus. But why was one of them wearing a trench coat, in May, in Tampa, Florida? Why did they keep changing their story about why they wanted to go to the school? And why did they originally say they were from Morocco instead of admitting they were Saudis? And why has their bail been revoked (which detail comes from the Rottweiler, not the Trib story) if this were just a case of boarding the wrong bus?Can you say... "Immigration Laws?" We keep letting these @$$holes in... It's just a matter of time before they get us. The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler suspects possible dress rehearsal. Michelle Malkin has: SOMETHING DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT... UPDATE: (May 21, 2006) Judge Revokes Bail For Saudi Bus Riders UPDATE: (May 23, 2006) Saudi Men Who Rode School Bus Released

Assassination Attempts Continue on Palestinian LeadersHamas: Terrorist Organization or Legitimate Government? On Sunday a second assassination attempt was made on yet another Palestinian official, senior Gaza commander Rashid Abu Shbak. Security forces found a roadside bomb just outside his home, moments before his motorcade was to leave. Associated Press Gaza Strip - Palestinian officials said they foiled an assassination attempt Sunday against a top security chief loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas, discovering a large roadside bomb planted shortly before the commander's motorcade was to pass through the area. It does not look very good for the peace process in the middle east in the near future. A Palestinian civil war appears inevitable.

Thursday, May 18. 2006World Majority Dislikes AmericansTheir polls, from interviews of 93,000 people in 50 countries over four years, showed that most think Americans are greedy, violent and rude. Bad news, America: World doesn't like We the People The United States long has been a source of irritation for the rest of the world, but the news is worse this year. It's lonely at the top.
Civil War Watch in Effect in Middle EastSecurity forces from rival Palestinian groups paraded through the streets of Gaza City on Thursday, sometimes coming dangerously close to one another, heightening fears of a war between the two heavily armed factions. Wednesday, May 17. 2006Border Fence: Build it High, Long and FastThe suggestion of using some of these 12 million illegal immigrants to build our border fence, sounds about right. They claim to work hard, work cheap and they "Love this Country." Right? Well two out of three ain't bad. The fact that Mexico will not clean up their own house and shore up the economic problems that bring these people here looking for a life, is why we finally need to do this. So let's get to building boys! The Associated Press The Senate endorsed a chance at citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants Wednesday but also voted to build 370 miles of triple-layered fencing along the Mexican border in increasingly emotional debate over election-year immigration legislation.More @ A Border Wall that Works The Price of a Fence How Do We Legalize Illegality?

EU Clueless, Iran on MissionIn his speech broadcast live on state television Wednesday, Ahmadinejad said "Iran won't accept any suspension or end to its uranium enrichment activities". Associated Press Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday rejected a possible European offer for incentives, including a light-water nuclear reactor, in return for allaying fears about his country's nuclear program by giving up uranium enrichment. Tuesday, May 16. 2006Flight of Millions of Immigrants: Mexico's DisgraceIncluded in their economic system is a simple scam developed by the government elite and corrupt government officials that causes this massive flight of millions of immigrants north to the US, just to survive. It's understandable the Mexican government would be concerned about the US stopping this immigration fiasco, because the fewer immigrants living in the U.S. and sending American money back to their families, the bigger the dent it puts in their economy. The Mexican economy depends deeply on this money being sent back home. It's part of the It has been estimated at over $14 BILLION annually. This is $14 BILLION leaving our economy every year. Not a small figure to say the least. President Vicente Fox said in September, 2003, "Money sent from Mexican workers in the United States to their families back home has reached a record $12 billion in 2003." Associated Press Remittances "are our biggest source of foreign income, bigger than oil, tourism or foreign investment," Fox told reporters after a meeting with Mexican-American businessmen. It's a disgrace... and it needs to stop! Now!

Bush Playing Both Sides of Immigration IssueAssociated Press President Bush stepped to the right and left at the same time on immigration: courting conservatives with tough talk of sending the National Guard to the border and seeking to reassure moderates that a guest-worker program will be part of the mix. As Bush continues playing this immigration policy juggling act, he may be starting to realize the conservative movement in this country is becoming very frustrated with his unwavering stance on this issue.
