What about this as an idea?
Our national forest were once dotted with tall observation towers; and they worked!! Let's end the discussion of putting up a "fence". As has been proven time and time again, good monies are, and have been, wasted because the "fences" can (and are) constantly undermined, climbed over, cut through, crawled under, and even walked around. What about lining out border w/tall towers spaced every 1/4 -1/2 mile apart; manned with two observers who are supplied w/night scopes and phones to contact the troops (or border police). {field of sight has to be over lapped} [at a 1/4 mile apart, that is 500 tall towers; each tower standing 60 to 80 feet above the ground. Not only could the observers see afar, but the illegals would see crossing would be almost impossible] I'll wager that illegal immigration would come to a sudden halt! Where do we get these observers? Our country is filled with 18-25 yr olds looking for a purpose. What if a national draft were re- installed and the inductees are given a choice to join regular military duty or to join a new brigade of border patrol/watchers? Tour of duty to our country would be 3-4 yrs, non combat. I am sooooo pissed at our Congress for selling us (USA) out. The last news I heard was the Senate passing a measure that required we consult with Mexico before building a fence. I've written several Congressional reps, and I've sent my emails to all my friends encouraging them to say something to Congress. If this idea is do-able, I believe the towers can be built in great haste, sturdy, comfortable, safe, and with the latest monitoring equipment for the observers. Maybe there is a partirate out there who has a few million they would be willing to put up to have towers built across our 2k mile border. It would be far more effective than some "fence". Sincerely, Joseph Boggs MS former combat vet (decorated), and active voter p.s., At $10,000.oo (?to build a tower?) and for 500 towers -- that's 5 mil to cover the building of the towers. Another 3-5 mil to supply the the monitoring equipment and phones. Total (initial) outlay could be under 10 mil. How much to build a leaky fence? How much to pay for illegals in jail across our country? How much to provide services to the illegals? FreedomForSome.com - © 2005 - All Rights Reserved |

Michael Savage interviewed Minuteman organizer Chris Simcox yesterday afternoon on this very issue which I have provided in part here. Heads should roll and they will if I am correctly reading the pulse of other conservative bloggers out there. ...

The time is NOW! I can't take it anymore. Bush just doesn't get the immigration issue. 48 hours after reading about how we are spying on our own to help illegal immigrants enter our country, I have to conclude that our leadership thinks more about Mexi
